warning - vent ahead....... so, my father (still very much in jw but who has at least had the decency to still keep in contact with me and hubby and to show interest in why we aren't attending and respect where we are at) is in intensive care at a local hospital and is intubated and sedated with some serious health issues.

i'm next of kin so i get all the phone calls from the hospital.. so, the rest of the "family" has cut me off because we are inactive and because the ever-active jw gossip grapevine has rumoured with a sibilant slithy hissy voice: "apossstassssy" is the cause of our inactivity.. whatever.. but now i've had to contact said "family" with the news about my father and what is going on....... so, dad's sisters answer my calls and manage to act and conduct themselves with a degree of decorum.. my sister on the other hand - well, she doesn't deign to answer my calls and texts for most of the day.

i push the issue tonight and insist on speaking to her when my brother-in-law answers the call.

ive long since given up on any possibility of 2 of my kids ever speaking to me.

i quit the cult in the 70's. in 81 i had an affair with a married sister in my wifes congregation. the sister was d/f for it. apparently ( although no-one ever told me directly )--it was also announced that i couldnt be d/f--because i hadnt been a dub for years. so--it was announced i was an apostate and the bros should have nothing to do with me !

my father and mother ( both deceased ) never shunned me--i told them right back then i couldnt carry on as a dub because i didnt believe in god--so wouldnt obey the watchtower rules about blood . so they accepted i wasnt a dub--end of.

however--after my mum died--in 98--my daughter decided to ignore my father--to the point of never visiting him in his care home in the last 3 years of his life. she lives less than a mile from there ! all because she knew my dad still talked to me.

i think most witnesses are simple minded.many are ignorant.

there are a lot of basically "good people "in the religion but i believe many are kind of dumb, including many elders.

do you agree with my thoughts??

Someone..or some people..at the head of the watchtower cult are certainly not ignorant.

What a business plan.....target the ignorant..fill them with false hope and empty promises...who then donate their cash and free labour....who then go on to recruit more ignorants....who then donate their money and labour....ad infinitum. How many millions has the cult now got ?

when i read the name--Jack Sutton--i did a double take----that was my fathers name !.....just that--Jack Sutton. not John--no other names. he became a dub about 55 years ago. he died last january--aged 95. he never shunned me--which meant he was shunned by other members of his family. his grand daughter ( my daughter 46 ) never once visited him in his care home over his final 3 years--even though i asked her to several times. she lived less than a mile from him. christians---you can keep them.

just curious but how do the people off this forum find reddit.

for myself i find reddit to be sadly lacking in the jw world.

i just don't find the depth there e.g one sentence replies, trying to be funny.

wake me up--re John Cedars

he was very active on here a very few years back--and a prolific poster. he had his supporters--and opposers.

he was also involved in setting up an over-night facebook group for xj's---and over 1000 members were added without their consent or approval. including me. many of these members were in fact " outed" by putting their real names on an open xj site. there was fury and uproar --on here--about it. i really have no idea--or interest--in whether its still going.

cedars had a head on collision with the site owner here--so is no longer a member.

that's what i've been told by a family member (elder) who went to one of the regional conventions in the north of the u.k lately, who told me the 300 or more disfellowshipped who returned to jehovah by attending show that the end is so close, just like the final talk says..
